Hi everyone, I am Pankaj Sharma,ece(3rd year) from Desh Bhagat Engineering College, Mandi Gobindgarh. Recently a placement drive was held by Accenture in Chitkara Institute of Technology, Chandigarh and by someone’s grace, I was selected.
The selection process was divided into four divisions: written round, the group discussion, HR interview and Technical Interview in the order mentioned above.

THE WRITTEN ROUND : for the written round preparation from r.s aggarwal’s verbal and non-verbal reasoning and quantitative aptitude by the same author are enough. The questions asked were on time and distance, work , arithmetic based on interchange of mathematical symbols

THE GROUP DISCUSSION : the students were divided into groups of fifteen . the topic for our group was ‘transition from college life to corporate life’. Actually, the gd in our group quickly turned into a fish market and those who managed to stay cool were selected. I acted like a co-ordinator as best as I could under the circumstances and it paid off. The mantra is to maintain your cool , listen attentively to other people’s view point , speak with confidence and never look in the direction of the co-ordinator.

THE HR ROUND :
The hr personnel was a cool guy and the interview moved as follows:
Q. how did your percentage drop from 90.4 in class 10 to 74 in class 12
A. told the reason
Q. ok, pankaj , what is your passion. What do you like to do in your free time?
A. told
Q. what is success?
A. told
Q. what is failure?
A. told
Q. why should we select you?
A. told
Q. ok pankaj thank you

I believe that the hr personnel mainly checks your command over the English language and your general trend of thought

THE TECHNICAL ROUND :
As I am from ece, I believe I had an advantage as only one question from oracle, and that also because I had written in my c.v. that I knew oracle , was asked . the rest were general questions like what is your greatest achievement, what kind of a project do you want to design in the future , etc.

The key is to believe in yourself and not worry.

Hiiiiiiii Friends... This is Ritesh Nanda a student of B.tech(CSE) 3rd year. And I m now sharing the whole test procedure of accenture with you.
Firstly starting with the aptitude/written test
For this u really need to devote time at least 2 days solving questions from m.tyra or r.s. aggarwal.
In Accenture they give more stress on verbal/non verbal rather than on solving mathematical questions
The topics u really need to be strong in are
1. venn diagrams (around 6 to 7 questions )
2. time and work ( 2 simple questions )
3. questions based on age( around 2 to 3)
4. cubes ( 2 questions)
5. speed, Time, distance (1 or 2)
6. ratio and proportion (around 4 questions)
7. profit and loss ( 2 to 3 questions)
8. S.I/C.I (2 questions)

First was the English section which u need to complete in around 15 to 20 minutes to get a command over the short time for the paper.
The English section was not so easy and not so tough since their was no negative marking so attempt all questions.

Then was the analytical section which was quite easy. Each question takes around 30 to 45 second if u knw the right formula which are mentioned in M.TYRA book for each n every topic.
Then was the easiest portion in which the questions were like
Q.1If = means +, + means -, -means / etc then solve 22+76-6/45
N the other questions were like
Q 2.Which one out of the four options does not match?
1.afghgfhjg 2.afghgfhjh 3. afghgfhfj 4.afghgfhjg
In this u can really grag your marks infinitely but yes take care that the paper has SECTIONAL CUTOFF . So take pains of each section separately
In this round from around 3800 people only 750 were selected

Next is the GD round
This is also an elimination round. In this just take care of the current affairs
Few of the topics of GD were
1.inflation
2.rainbow
3.effect of cinema on youth
4.India china economy
In GD round everybody wants to initialize so that he/she comes in the eyes. But friends let me tell u the best rules for GD
1.First 5 to 10 minutes jst listen to what others are saying.
2.shake ur head and pretend as if u r listening very carefully.
3.then a time comes when all points get over n the discussion keeps revolving around those points only then is ur turn
4.give a point that has statistical figures in it and yes keep speaking until any one interrupts
5.when anybody interrupts then listen to him genuinely and behave as a good listener.

These points will definitely make u clear the GD round but yes TAKE CARE OF YOUR COMMUNICATION SKILLS UR GRAMMAR I>E UR TENSES ETC
IN this round out of 750 people 220 got selected

Third is the H.R round
This was not so tough. Questions on your family. Ur nature, your experiences etc are being put up. They just check your TRUTHFULNESS.
So guys have examples of all the thing u have mentioned in your CV.
IN this out of 220, 150 people were selected.

Forth and the last round was TECHNICAL ROUND
THE QUESTIONS WERE LIKE
1. PRECEDENCE OF ARIHEMETIC OPERATORS
2. WHAT IS FUNCTION OVERLOADING?
3. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CHAR AND VARCHAR2 IN DBMS?
4. QUESTION ON I, I++ AND ++I

YOU HAVE TO GIVE THE OUTPUT.

IN THIS ROUND OUT OF 150 , ONLY 82 WERE SELECTED AND WITH GRACE OF VAISHNO DEVI MATA I GOT SELECTED.

In verbal section 4articles,3Prepositions,3 Synonymns with sentences like articulate, creditability, clendestine and 2 paragraphs .
In quant section 4 on venn diagrams,5 on * and @ problems, blood relations-3,cylinders1

In analytical section Decision making-5,problem solving by substitution -5
and attention to detail-5

paper was quite easy but time and speed matters here. There was sectional cut off, prepare well.

hi every1, its pranshu here.....i appeared for the Accenture written paper on 15th march 2008. out of 4100 students from all over punjab 798 got selected in the written paper. The written paper was quite easy...apti+english+analytical. there were 55 questions and 32 was the cut-off (not sure 'bout the cut-off). Then we had our GD almost a month later on 12th April 2008.
My G.D. group had 12 ppl. 9 out of 12 got selected. Our topic was "BLACK". Then i had my technical interview which was quite simple. The interviewer asked me about polymorphism and then asked me 2 write a program illustrating it. I told him that i am not very comfortable writing programs. Then he asked me my pet subjects of ELECTRONICS since i am from E.C.E. I said microprocessors and then explained 8085 microprocessor and it's architecture. He then asked me puzzles regarding velocities of 2 trains etc....

My H.R. was a lady...she made me feel comfortable and i didn't feel nervous et al. She asked me bout my family background, hobbies, interests , bout myself. The dip in %age from 10th till degree, why Accenture?

Overall i had a nice experience.

The BOTTOM LINE is never get disheartened....i couldn't clear the infy paper n was a little sad afterwards but i didn't lose hope. Have confidence in your own abilities...maintain an eye contact with the interviewer, full confidence in whatever u say....and at last but not the least FAITH IN ALMIGHTY GOD!!!

Hey Friends We r sakshi and jimmy we both gave the placement paper for Accenture on 19th April 2008 in on campus. Accenture came with a dream status in our college so everyone was allowed to give the test.
Secondary we were both unplaced and lost the hope that we will get a job in third year. almost all student with us were placed. we have already appeared in more than 7 company can not recall the names even...
so that day we just went with no hope but after giving the written which was after the ppt it was clear to us..

written test was very easy. u need not do any preparation from any book. just go through the previous papers of this company that all...
whole paper was exactly matching the previous paper and most imp no sets so u can solve it easily
written test was cleared by almost every student 192 got selected.... for the gd
we really feared gd. that was our first gd of our life but it was the most interesting part of placement everyone had to speak for 1 min on the TOPIC MOBILE SHOULD BE PROHIBITED IN COLLEGE OR NOT
all the stud from our batch (12) we all got cleared, so don't worry be cool
if u have cleared the gd then u r almost in accenture..

WRITTEN TEST:-
55 question in 1 hr
we completed it before time. no time management required.. almost everyone has got cleared.. and 10 min essay writing after that written it is useless no one reads it so don't worry. topic was LIFE IN ITM same topic every time

In our college accenture was the 4th company which came for the placements.
Total 1400 students appeared.Out of which
i) 425 were shortlisted after Apti
ii) 259 after the GD round
iii) total 114 were selected after Tech n HR inteviews.

First round was the Apti round. It was very easy, nd was conducted by people 4m MERIT TRAC. Max Qns were of Profit n Loss. Some were of type if /stands for *, + stands for - and so on.
English part was extremely easy.In all there were 55 Qns that were 2 b done in 60 min. also there was an essay which has to be written in 10 min and the topic was given after completion of the apti. My topic was "Education sysytem in India". Apti's result was out on the same day n rest of the rounds took place on 5th .

On 5th first round was the GD round. Students were divided in the groups of 12 each. It was a tough round. Topics were easy but the elimination was of about 40%. They were mainly concerned about the communication skills. Some of the topics were Budget-2008, should Cricket be made National Game of India, Red, Economy of India, Will India b superpower by 2020,...

Results of GD round were out on d same day n then the Tech n HR interviews statred simultaneously. On 5th these rounds were quite easy . My interviews took place around 11 in night. firstly I gone through the HR round. My HR was very gud. There were very easy questions like ,Tell me about urself which is nt dere in CV, who is ur ideal n why?, Which book u read resently n what did u learn, ny problem in relocation. thanfully I was selected n then appeared 4 Tech. It was a bit tought round but was very easy in my case.
As that person was bit impressed vd my academics.He asked me 2-3 simple Questions of sorting, Pointers, n rDBMS. Interviews continued on the 6th also.

Finally the results were out on 6th at 10 in the night. Luckily I was dere in the 114 selected students. Friends believe me its easy just be confident, n prepare well 4 the GD n Tech rounds.

hello FRIENDS!! accenture is a global management company and enjoys a very good profile and it is recognized worldwide.........as such if u get a chance to get intto this company do put in your best .. it was an on campus recruitment process......... 244 students had appeared............ accenture has a very tough selection process of 4 stage and it is very competitive..........the test was conducted by MERITRAC.............

APTITUDE TEST
the whole test is of 1 hr in total this is as usual the first round after the ppt......the aptitude paper consists of three sections.....total 55 q

1>verbal ability:-in this there will be fill in the blanks with the correct words , synonyms,(articles and prepositions),,,,word meanings (very simple ones), and two passages which will have 5 to 6 questions from it..............it is better that before reading the passage you go through the questions as this will save time.
2>mathematical questions:-very easy only sums frm r s agarwal (quantatitive) come
3>logical reasoning:- do all syllogism,statement -inference ,logical connectives (these were the changes from previous year papers)
AFTR THE 1 HR ARE OVER u will be given additional 10 minutes to write an essay on any topic for atleast 100 words....... i was given IT IMPACT ON INDIA Around 122 people cleard the apti frm 244 odd ppl

GROUP DISCUSSION
this is also an imp elimination round.........in this i ll advice that you dnt get tensed........watevr b the topic atleast say 2 to 3 points which make sense..n yes always listen to what others want to say also......most imp ......thru the entire gd never look at the person who is conducting the gd...just look at the people who r in your group..... aftr the gd around 70 ppl were left

HR ++ TECH
in this round you may be asked anything from technical or hr or maybe both..........dnt worry they r very nice ppl and they ll make u feel comfortable....very basic questions were asked regarding me,my hobbies and my future plans,my dream........

IF THEY DO NOT LIKE YOU IN THIS ROUND THEY WILL STRAIGHT AWAY ASK YOU TO LEAVE............ SPOKEN ENGLISH IS OF GREAT IMPORTANCE IN ACCENTURE............................SO TRY TO BE VERY CLEAR AND FLUENT........

HR++++TECH
this is the final round and this is also same as previous round............in this also tech may be askd or hr or maybe both..............so they have a two stage process........i was askd bout my favourite movie and y i likd it n y m i shifting frm my stream i.e electronics to IT industry....just prepare good answers for these ques and i m sure u ll b thru............. after this we waited for an hour nd thn our results were declared

47 PEOPLE MADE IT AND I WAS ONE OF THEM....................just be confident and try to deliver your best.............for the aptitude the questions are very easy so every one can do it..........the only thing is dat u have to be very fast....no -ve marking is there so attempt all the questions.................

hi friends.....first of all a big thanks to freshers world bcoz of which i was aware of the test paper pattern in advance.it really helped me a lot. first i would like to tell all droppers that though most companies dont try to take droppers but if there is a genuine reason, ur case can be considered equally. but u need to have a good cgpa at btech level and u should be aware of whats happening in outside world. i am a dropper of more than 2 years and got selected.

Accenture visited our campus on 12th march. all students who were already placed were also allowed to sit in accenture.so around 500 students participated in the process out of them only 196 were able to clear the written. among these 196, about 110 got selected in gd. she asked us to decide a topic on our own and we decided capital punishment........justified or not... u can see the paper pattern (which is conducted by meritrac) from some other contributers, i will tell u abt my interview.

first it was a HR round for me.since i was having many gaps....it was like..........
HR: good afternoon vipin.
ME: good afternoon mam.
HR: ok vipin tell me something abut you.
me-told
HR: why r u having these many gaps?
me- answered by which she was impressed(they dont like persons who have the gap bcoj they were preparing to get into iits).
HR: ok what do u know abt accenture?
me- mam i know many things abt accenture like who is the ceo, in how many countries the company is located,how many clients th company has and all those statistics kind of stuff.........always surf net to fin out new things........
HR: so whats new........all these thingswere told to u during presentation and each one who is standing outside knows these things.
me- mam but during the initial phase of the presentation...when sir displayed all the figures on the slide and he asked does anybody know what do these figures represents, i gave 3 answers......(she was highly impressed)
HR: ok why as a mechanical engg. do u want to join accenture?
me- gave the answer with the eg of designing of lift.....each stream has its own part in the succesful completion of a job and mech engg have good analytical power and they find there place everywhere......(impressed and satisfied)
HR: ok. vipin dre u comfortable to relocate?
me- yes mam......since it is my hobby to travel and explore new places.......i have no problem in relocation(by this one of the hobby which was mentioned in the cv was substantiated)
HR: ok vipin........do u have any questions to ask........
me- mam since i know many things abt accenture, i will not ask u abt it........but please tell me whether u liked any thing in my cv or in me which was not there in others......
HR: but i didn't told u till now whether u r selected or not..........(impressed with que)
me- than mam if i am selected what was my good point and if i am not ,where i was lacking.......
HR: one thing i liked abt u is that u r not faking urself............u r present as u are in real...........any more ques?

and i was selected and in TI round i answered all the ques except one which was not in our course and finally i got selected.........only 76 students were able to make through it and i was the one.............a luck factor also played an imp role..........

Accenture came to ur college on April 5,2008.About 800 students appeared out of which 400 cleared written,276 cleared GD and finally 176 were selected after tech and HR interviews

First round was written paper. There were 2 sets,each having three parts.
1.Verbal-20 questions
2.Quantative-20 questions
3.Analytical-15 questions

It was a 1 hr paper with sectional cutoffs and no negative marking. So,devote ur time properly on each section.

Analytical section was very easy.Try to attend it first.In verbal,there were two comprehensions. They were little bit difficult.First read questions and then comprehension. Correct use of prepositions and articles were there.I would advice u to go through verbal ability book of any MBA coaching.Quantative section was a little bit difficult. Mostly questions were from venn diagram applications, trains, distance and time,time and work, etc.

Next round was Group Discussion. Some of GD topics were as follows:
1.Impact of American elections on India
2.Single-party multiple party system
3.Media crossing limits
4.Alcohol or cigarette-which would u prefer?
5.Domestic companies and multi-national companies
6.ICL VS IPL
7.Reservation
9.Sex education
10.Education system of India
11. Impact of IT on India
12.Casteless society-possibility or myth?
13.Status of women in India

Other topics can be on inflation, economy of India and comparison it with China,and recent events. Results re announced hand to hand on ur face. There is no limit ,they can take any no. of students from a group.

Then students were divided, some had their technical first,while others had their HR first. My first interview was technical. Since my CGPA is good,he was impressed. Prepare well Project details and viva because their main emphasis is on Projects. Since I had Grade A in Financial Management and Digital Electronics, he asked some questions from these subjects. Then he asked me to wait outside. A man came and he told me that I was selected

They declare the result of first interview hand to hand, Then my interview was HR. HR asked simple questions like describe urself,ur ideal,
sth abt accenture which is not there in website. Finally after one hour,results were announced. My name was there, I was happy.

Their process is quite fast. Just remain calm, remember, God is with u.

There was 3 sections. test was very easy. just be cool.
1st section was verbal(20q) i am just sending sme questions wich i remember.
5 questions based on prepositions it was easy
4 questions based on synonyms sme were like sagacity, fictitious (options were like imaginary, imaginative,unreal),obstreous etc.
sme questions based on articles
2 big paragraphs n questions based on this one passage it was sql servers n all and one more all about sme new tech.

Aptitude questions 20q
1.thr r 60 mem in a team x people shot A bird, y people shot B bird , z people shot C bird. x1 people shot both A & B bird, y1 people shot B & C bird. how many shot all the 3 birds.

the cut off was very high so only 107 got thrugh frm 400
Thr was short essay on " my colloge life" for 10min(it is nt evaluated in written only in hr thy ll ask u Qts on tht.).

our topic was "is Indian population is boon or a bane". try to grab the opurtunity n speak smethng evnthough its wrong. sme more topics were like Ipl, blue or pink, fee hike in iim, love marriage vs arranged marriage. its a major elimination round.

HR ROUND

It was like a stress interview...
1.Family background
2 Why accenture
3.R u ready for service agreement
4.Being a EC student why shld i hire u
5.Wht outsourcing n business n management
6.Name the person who cmes in the accenture add (ans:tigerwoods)
7.She gave sme suituations n asked wht would u do in tht suituation. thr was elimination in HR also.

TECHNICAL
It was 10:30 in nyt whn i attend my technical. initially thr was sme hr Qts
HR: u r passionate abt which sub?
ME: Analog Communication( as i'am EC student)

First of all i would like to express my gratitude to freshersworld which has helped me immensely in getting placed. this site is a blessing for frehers like us. I attended accenture placement exam at srmcem,lko in a pool campus. The selection process was a long and tedious one but ended with my selection so i'm very happy. Accenture paper consists of 3 parts - verbal, quanti and attention to details. the paper is quite easy, only requires consistent practice from any reasoning book. don't just go through r.s aggarwal, try to expand your chances of selection by going through some mba material..

verbal section is a piece of cake, for everyone, dosn' require great english, just corret use of grammar.
Quants is also very basic, but u should have practised it.

Attention to details only checks your mental applicability, so it dsn't actually require any practice. the results were announced after 5 days, so we had to wait a little too much. I attended gd on 5th april at lko. Before yhe gd, they gave us a ppt about accenture. be VERY attentive and try to make a mental note of everything,it helps in the interview.

Our gd topic was "Ragging should be legalised". I spoke against the topic. Out of 15, 9 were selected. they don't have a fixed no. they cn take as many they like.

During gd be cool and clear in your view. DO NOT try to dominate others or get aggresive, just try to give your points clearly and in good english. be original and don't repeat other's points.follw these little bits and u'll be through this round.

My first interview was hr but he also asked little bit about my project. the interviewer was very nice and i didn't feel nervous at all. he asked me the meaning of my name, books i like to read, what ws the most striking thing i found about accenture, my family background etc. it lasted for about 20 mins. in the end he askd me if i wanted to ask him anything and i asked his name.The only tip for this round is - be confident yet humble. answer only what is asked, don't try to show off and look into his eyes while talking.after the interview got over he gave me his hand, which i shook very firmly, that reflects your confidence. I was asked to wait outside and within 5 mins i was told that i am through that round

I was called for my second interview aftr waiting for 4 hours. he was the most senior person from the recruiting team and very gentle. He asked me my favorite subject which i said was OOPS. he askd me the diff btween oops and c, about my project, why i want to join accenture and few others. in the end he asked me whether i want to ask him anything. i asked him about the working environment at accenture. he told me about it and then askd me to leave.

The results were announced 2 hrs later and by god's grace and my parents' blessings, my name was there. now, i have been dying to write this ever since i started visiting this site.......

Hi there...We had campus placement for Accenture in our college on 4th July..
There were 4 rounds.
i) Aptitude test (written)
ii) Group discussion
iii) Technical interview
iv) HR interview

Aptitude test was easy.. I hadn't really prepared very hard for it.. R.S Agarwal verbal and non verbal reasoning should be quite enough.. there were three sections of the paper:

Verbal (quite easy)
Quantitative (a bit difficult.. the time wasn't enough)
Reasoning (easy again)

Then there was the Group Discussion. the topic we were given was "What should the Indian Government do to attract more people to join the Indian Army". The only condition is that you talk and you talk sense. One sensible point can get you through. Our group had 14 members and 12 were qualified for the second round. In some other groups, 7 were selected and 7 rejected.

Then there was the technical interview.
The person taking the interview was very friendly and warm. I was tensed in the beginning, but later the I felt a bit relaxed.
This was supposed to be a tech interview, but it was more of a tech + HR interview..
Some of the questions he asked were the following:
- Which is your favourite subject? (And then a few questions based on the subject)
- What are your achievements?
- Tell me about yourself and your family.
- Why do want to do this job and why not go for further studies?
- What are your hobbies? (And some questions based on your hobbies.. Like I said reading books.. And he asked me the last book that I've read and asked me a quick review about the book)

Then finally there was the HR interview.. This interview was more like reading the conditions out.. It was very brief..
The questions were:
- Give me your personal profile.. ( Personal profile includes everything about you, your academics, your family, your interests, etc)
- Are you ready to be relocated??
- Are you ready to work for any client, at any place, under any working hours and conditions?
- Are you ready to sign a bond to this effect?
- Do you have any gaps in your education?

One thing, I'd suggest about the interviews is that be truthful and honest and frank. DO NOT bluff or try to be something which you aren't.
The results of each round are announced immediately after the round and the selected candidates move on..
The final results were announced at about 9:00 in the night. (The selection process started at about 9:30 in the morning).
There were 51 people selected from our college, and by God's grace, I was one of them.

Hi friends . my name is deepak.. Accenture visit our campus on 29 march...it was a co-campus activity...Accenture allow to sit together B.Tech and MCA students. there were around 1200 students appeared for the written test....Then after two days we get our result.. around two hundred students cleared the written test.. test was very easy but main thing was cut-off was very high...you must practice a lot to do all question in paper otherwise you will not clear the cut off...so practice easy question as well..on 5th of April we had next emaing rounds......at 10.00 am there was a ppt. session....it last for 45 minutes.....then GD started...there were group of 12 people...after GD around 85 students were selected for technical and HR ..
TECHNICAL round..
the technical round was not so easy.. people used to say that Accenture technical is very easy...but its more then just c and c++...the person who was taking my interview ask me questions on c ,c++, networking, software engineering, database management....one thing you must care that you do not tell a lie...the person who is taking your interview is more smart...than you...so if you are not good in one subject just tell the interviewer that you are not comfortable in that subject...if he ask question to you on that subject ......about your favourite subject your all fundamentals should be clear otherwise it can create problem for you....

then HR round was very interactive....HR person is always a cool guy..he will make you more comfortable then technical person..
then around 9.00 pm result was declared...around 40 student were selected...it was a day which i would never like to forget in my life....i was selected in my dream company....so guys be ready ......

those people who have one year gap can be a part of Accenture very easy....but gap of more then one year will create problem...so don't think that you had one yr gap and Accenture will not hire you...be ready to clarify that why you have a gap in your studies...

I had my selection procedure on Apr 12 & 13,2008 which was held at Bhoj Reddy Engg. College, Hyderabad. Around 4000 odd attended the test and 600 cleared the written, then followed by GD n 250 cleared the GD. Out of 250 odd 100 got through Technical Intrvw and the final figure is 58…I am being proud to be one among them. see the solid competition. Nearly 70:1 is the ratio…..

Aptitude is so easy.. u can answer easily just with ur presence of mind.

Those who cleared the written were called 4 GDs it was 7 PM for me
Around 13-15 were made to sit in a semi circle arrangement n the moderator was given us a minute time to make out some points on the topic.. My topic was POLITICS IN INDIA BETWEEN REGIONAL AND NATIONAL PARTIES
And given us 10 mins time to speak on the topic. They'll announce the result on the spot….
In my batch 13 were there and 5 got through the GD n they asked us to fill the HR form n asked us to leave that’s all for that day

TECHNICAL INTERVIEW :
On 13 Apr we had Technical Interview .They mainly concentrate on your resume.. so be clear with your resume.
I am from Mechanical Stream. A guy from Accenture Bangalore has taken my Interview. He was so cool n a routine question no need to tell…Tell about your profile…
N then Straight away to subject.. he asked me Questions on Strings, pointers, JDBC files, Data Bases,
hw you'll connect to database from C?
Hw you'll connect data base in java?
Such questions…

Guys be thorough with your academic project.. Be strong in it. Friends no need to worry.. they'll just see your basics…Electronics guys be thorough with your core subjects..
I was asked to stay outside for the result.. n a HR guy came outside n said u got through the tech… I was so happy n the only one small hurdle is in front of me to jump…

Friends do remember don’t neglect HR round I've seen one guy was rejected from HR
He asked me to Wait for the result….
With in five mins the same guy who declared my tech result declared me final n positive n very happy news….that U R SELECTED…n congratulated me….n asked me to collect offer letter n I was about to shed Tears….

After 5 hrs long wait… They made us to sit in a hall n offered us with an official letter.. and this was the happiest day of my life till now….Finally Enjoyed the day with full of tiredness ….From that day till now i am not believing that I got through Accenture….

APTITUDE TEST
the aptitude test is of 1 hr 10 mins in total this is as usual the first round after the ppt......the aptitude paper consists of three sections.....
1>verbal ability:-in this there will be fill in the blanks with the correct words,,,,,,word meanings(very simple ones), and two passages which will have 5 to 6 questions from it..............it is better that before reading the passage you go through the questions as this will save time.
2>mathematical questions:-very easy only sums frm r s agarwal (quantatitive) come
3>data interpretation and logical reasoning

AFTR THE 1 HR 10 MINS ARE OVER u will be given additional 10 minutes to write an essay on any topic for atleast 100 words....... i was given SHLD MOBILE PHONES BE BANNED IN COLLEGE?
Around 50 people cleard the apti frm 500 odd ppl

GROUP DISCUSSION
this is also an imp elimination round.........in this i ll advice that you dnt get tensed........watevr b the topic atleast say 2 to 3 points which make sense..n yes always listen to what others want to say also......most imp ......thru the entire gd never look at the person who is conducting the gd...just look at the people who r in your group.....

HR++TECH
in this round you may be asked anything from technical or hr or maybe both..........dnt worry they r very nice ppl and they ll make u feel comfortable....very basic questions were asked regarding me,my hobbies and my future plans........

IF THEY DO NOT LIKE YOU IN THIS ROUND THEY WILL STRAIGHT AWAY ASK YOU TO LEAVE............ SPOKEN ENGLISH IS OF GREAT IMPORTANCE IN ACCENTURE............................SO TRY TO BE VERY CLEAR AND FLUENT........

HR++++TECH
this is the final round and this is also same as previous round............in this also tech may be askd or hr or maybe both..............so they have a two stage process........i was askd bout my favourite movie and y i likd it n y m i shifting frm my stream i.e electronics to IT industry....just prepare good answers for these ques and i m sure u ll b thru.............

after this we waited for an hour nd thn our results were declared

ONLY 16 PEOPLE MADE IT AND I WAS ONE OF THEM....................just be confident and try to deliver your best.............for the aptitude the questions are very easy so every one can do it..........the only thing is dat u have to be very fast....no -ve marking is there so attempt all the questions.................

HI, Frnz. Accenture conducted a campus drive in our college i.s. Maharaja agrasen Institute Of Technology on 8th March 2008(Exclusively for our college). Well 244 students sat for the examination process, it was one of the smoothest selection processes conducted by Meritrac. It consisted of 4 rounds as discuss below.

WRITTEN EXAM
The test consisted of 55 ques to be done in 60 mins.
It had three sections i.e. Verbal ability, logical reasoning, and mathematical ability.
All the questions were very easy. U just need to have gud speed to clear the xm. There was no –ve marking. So attempt all questions. The paper was very easy.

After 1 hour got completed, we were given a topic on which we had write an essay of approx 100-150 words in !0 mins. The topic of essay was “IMPACT OF IT ON INDIA”. Beware this essay may be evaluated in ur HR interview. Try to write it in good handwriting.

After 1 hour or so result was announced. 122 students out of 244 got selected and immediately after that we were divided in groups and sent for gd.

GROUP DISCUSSION
Well I must tell u tht I didn’t had I had a kind of extempore instead. All of us were given a topic on which we had to speak for 1 min. Then after all hv completed speakin we were told to contradict others or to give a conclusion. Our topic was “Impact of Cell phones-Good or Bad”
Other topics were “Microsoft taking over google” ; “Products ,Services and Outsourcing companies”.
7 students out of 13 got selected in our group.
A total of 80 students out of 122 cleared the gd.

HR Cum TECH ROUND
After waiting for around 1.5 hours I got the chance to appear for interview. In this round I was asked technical as well as hr . The person aws really a nice and cool dude . I was asked to talk abt myself for a min. and after that he asked ques on my ans. Some very basic questions were asked regarding C++. They also asked about hw much I knew abt the company etc.. They just checked our confidence level. Just after the interview I was told that I got through with the tech round.

HR ROUND
This was the last round and I had to wait for around 4.5 hours to appesr in it. It was quite easy as the interviewer was the same person who was there in our g.d. He aws very cool and calm. As it was around 9.00 p.m. so he asked abt hw m I feeling. He askd hw wud I inform my parents if I got selected….n why should the company hire me…abt my family background…abt my relocation…abt signin the bond …then he askd if I had any ques….then he told me a lot abt accenture’s work and its environment for abt 20 mins.. As I had my interview among the last interviews after 30 mins or so the results were announced

And with the god’s grace I got selected among the 47 students that got selected from our college.

First of all i'd like 2 tell u all dat don't go by accenture selection figures... u may think out of 2000 it has juss selected 50 .... but wat m saying accentur test is really very very easy... u may b thinking dat evry selected candidate think so... but m telling u d figure frm my college... from my college total 91 students appeared out of dat 69 cleared Apti & in final only 65 sat 4 interwiew & GD , at last 40 from my college got selected finally... so now u can conclude how simple it is.. now d actual figure is dat
total appeared(from all colleges) 1150.. apti---> 209 , finally ---> 55.
my col status: total appeared : 91 .. apti--> 69 .. 65 appeared 4 interview .. finally.. 40 (so go by my coll statics)

IMPORATANT THING 2 NOTE :
i've read in all earlier papers dat accenture mainly focus on comm. skills & it doesn't take students having year gap... m telling u out of 40 selected frm my coll 25 people were having a year gap... so people havin gap cheers... 2nd thing comm. skills r also not dat much important dey juss c whether u keep mum or u try 2 do somthing.. or speak somthing.. tuti-futi english will do...

GROUP DISCUSSION :
many of my friends told dat its the most difficult level of whole selection procedure.. but i'm saying dis is d most simplest of ol.. wen v asked him dat sir is dat comm skills which u c... he said "i think u've seen www.freshersworld .com" he said i'm juss checking whether u can say somthing or not on any topic... our group was of 11... he said "i'm havin very bad exp wid last batch" so v feared dat v r out today.... but he was really a nice guy... he said chose a topic so i suggested RESERVATION nd ol of us accepted d topic (don't argue much)... he said our discussion vill b like debate so he divided us into 2.. half wd speak in favr nd others .. against d topic... i was d person 2 start (for) i said ya! reservation shd b dere bt not on caste nd religion basis but it shd b on economic basis... dere was no hustle bustle in our batch... som were very poor at english but still he was giving chance 2 evry1... nd last he pointed at 4 people nd asked dem 2 speak nd rest shd b silent... frnds belive it or not 2-3 ppl were dere who can't even speak 1 line correctly.... but 2 d surprise of ol he selected all of us ... i.e. 11 out of 11.. he said i'm giving chance to 3 of u.. perform better in interview... so conclusion is dat our batch was quite decent ndaccepted each other's thought so v all were selected... NOT ON D BASIS OF COMM. SKILLS i've seen 2-3 of our college's girls who were very good at english nd knowledge .. everything got rejected b'coz moderator tht dey were too aggressive...

other topics: BRAIN-DRAIN, WOMEN EMPOWERMENT, IMPORTANCE OF END, ROLE OF MEDIA.... no need of preparing much 4 GD .. its very simple u juss remain quite.. bt not totally.. speak juss twice or thrice in betwn .. d u r selected...

after GD people were divided.. som were having Technical som were having HR... they gave prefernce 2 girls first ol girls were finished wid Technical & HR by 5 pm in d evng.. our GD finished at 10 nd Interview started at 5pm
so b prepared to get bored, frustrated, tired, hungry..evrything...

APTITUDE TEST
the whole test is of 1 hr in total this is as usual the first round after the ppt......the aptitude paper consists of three sections.....total 55 q

1>verbal ability:-in this there will be fill in the blanks with the correct words , synonyms, (articles and prepositions),,,,word meanings (very simple ones), and two passages which will have 5 to 6 questions from it..............it is better that before reading the passage you go through the questions as this will save time.
2>mathematical questions:-very easy only sums frm r s agarwal (quantatitive) come
3>logical reasoning:- do all syllogism, statement -inference ,logical connectives (these were the changes from previous year papers)
AFTR THE 1 HR ARE OVER u will be given additional 10 minutes to write an essay on any topic for atleast 100 words....... i was given IT IMPACT ON INDIA Around 122 people cleard the apti frm 244 odd ppl

GROUP DISCUSSION
this is also an imp elimination round.........in this i ll advice that you dnt get tensed........watevr b the topic atleast say 2 to 3 points which make sense..n yes always listen to what others want to say also......most imp ......thru the entire gd never look at the person who is conducting the gd...just look at the people who r in your group..... aftr the gd around 70 ppl were left

HR ++ TECH
in this round you may be asked anything from technical or hr or maybe both..........dnt worry they r very nice ppl and they ll make u feel comfortable....very basic questions were asked regarding me,my hobbies and my future plans,my dream........

IF THEY DO NOT LIKE YOU IN THIS ROUND THEY WILL STRAIGHT AWAY ASK YOU TO LEAVE............ SPOKEN ENGLISH IS OF GREAT IMPORTANCE IN ACCENTURE............................SO TRY TO BE VERY CLEAR AND FLUENT........

HR++++TECH
this is the final round and this is also same as previous round............in this also tech may be askd or hr or maybe both..............so they have a two stage process........i was askd bout my favourite movie and y i likd it n y m i shifting frm my stream i.e electronics to IT industry....just prepare good answers for these ques and i m sure u ll b thru............. after this we waited for an hour nd thn our results were declared

47 PEOPLE MADE IT AND I WAS ONE OF THEM....................just be confident and try to deliver your best.............for the aptitude the questions are very easy so every one can do it..........the only thing is dat u have to be very fast....no -ve marking is there so attempt all the questions.................

HI, Frnz. Accenture conducted a campus drive in our college i.s. Maharaja agrasen Institute Of Technology on 8th March 2008(Exclusively for our college). Well 244 students sat for the examination process, it was one of the smoothest selection processes conducted by Meritrac. It consisted of 4 rounds as discuss below.

WRITTEN EXAM
The test consisted of 55 ques to be done in 60 mins.
It had three sections i.e. Verbal ability, logical reasoning, and mathematical ability.
All the questions were very easy. U just need to have gud speed to clear the xm. There was no –ve marking. So attempt all questions. The paper was very easy.

After 1 hour got completed, we were given a topic on which we had write an essay of approx 100-150 words in !0 mins. The topic of essay was “IMPACT OF IT ON INDIA”. Beware this essay may be evaluated in ur HR interview. Try to write it in good handwriting.

After 1 hour or so result was announced. 122 students out of 244 got selected and immediately after that we were divided in groups and sent for gd.

GROUP DISCUSSION
Well I must tell u tht I didn’t had I had a kind of extempore instead. All of us were given a topic on which we had to speak for 1 min. Then after all hv completed speakin we were told to contradict others or to give a conclusion. Our topic was “Impact of Cell phones-Good or Bad”

Other topics were “Microsoft taking over google” ; “Products ,Services and Outsourcing companies”.
7 students out of 13 got selected in our group.
A total of 80 students out of 122 cleared the gd.

HR Cum TECH ROUND
After waiting for around 1.5 hours I got the chance to appear for interview. In this round I was asked technical as well as hr . The person aws really a nice and cool dude . I was asked to talk abt myself for a min. and after that he asked ques on my ans. Some very basic questions were asked regarding C++. They also asked about hw much I knew abt the company etc.. They just checked our confidence level. Just after the interview I was told that I got through with the tech round.

HR ROUND
This was the last round and I had to wait for around 4.5 hours to appesr in it. It was quite easy as the interviewer was the same person who was there in our g.d. He aws very cool and calm. As it was around 9.00 p.m. so he asked abt hw m I feeling. He askd hw wud I inform my parents if I got selected….n why should the company hire me…abt my family background…abt my relocation…abt signin the bond …then he askd if I had any ques….then he told me a lot abt accenture’s work and its environment for abt 20 mins.. As I had my interview among the last interviews after 30 mins or so the results were announced

And with the god’s grace I got selected among the 47 students that got selected from our college.

hi friends.....first of all a big thanks to freshers world bcoz of which i was aware of the test paper pattern in advance.it really helped me a lot. first i would like to tell all droppers that though most companies dont try to take droppers but if there is a genuine reason, ur case can be considered equally. but u need to have a good cgpa at btech level and u should be aware of whats happening in outside world. i am a dropper of more than 2 years and got selected.

Accenture visited our campus on 12th march. all students who were already placed were also allowed to sit in accenture.so around 500 students participated in the process out of them only 196 were able to clear the written. among these 196, about 110 got selected in gd. she asked us to decide a topic on our own and we decided capital punishment........justified or not... u can see the paper pattern (which is conducted by meritrac) from some other contributers, i will tell u abt my interview.
first it was a HR round for me.since i was having many gaps....it was like..........
HR: good afternoon vipin.
ME: good afternoon mam.
HR: ok vipin tell me something abut you.
me-told
HR: why r u having these many gaps?
me- answered by which she was impressed(they dont like persons who have the gap bcoj they were preparing to get into iits).
HR: ok what do u know abt accenture?
me- mam i know many things abt accenture like who is the ceo, in how many countries the company is located,how many clients th company has and all those statistics kind of stuff.........always surf net to fin out new things........
HR: so whats new........all these thingswere told to u during presentation and each one who is standing outside knows these things.
me- mam but during the initial phase of the presentation...when sir displayed all the figures on the slide and he asked does anybody know what do these figures represents, i gave 3 answers......(she was highly impressed)
HR: ok why as a mechanical engg. do u want to join accenture?
me- gave the answer with the eg of designing of lift.....each stream has its own part in the succesful completion of a job and mech engg have good analytical power and they find there place everywhere......(impressed and satisfied)
HR: ok. vipin dre u comfortable to relocate?
me- yes mam......since it is my hobby to travel and explore new places.......i have no problem in relocation(by this one of the hobby which was mentioned in the cv was substantiated)
HR: ok vipin........do u have any questions to ask........
me- mam since i know many things abt accenture, i will not ask u abt it........but please tell me whether u liked any thing in my cv or in me which was not there in others......
HR: but i didn't told u till now whether u r selected or not..........(impressed with que)
me- than mam if i am selected what was my good point and if i am not ,where i was lacking.......
HR: one thing i liked abt u is that u r not faking urself............u r present as u are in real...........any more ques?

and i was selected and in TI round i answered all the ques except one which was not in our course and finally i got selected.........only 76 students were able to make through it and i was the one.............a luck factor also played an imp role..........

Accenture came to ur college on April 5,2008.About 800 students appeared out of which 400 cleared written,276 cleared GD and finally 176 were selected after tech and HR interviews

First round was written paper. There were 2 sets,each having three parts.
1.Verbal-20 questions
2.Quantative-20 questions
3.Analytical-15 questions

It was a 1 hr paper with sectional cutoffs and no negative marking.So,devote ur time properly on each section.

Analytical section was very easy. Try to attend it first.In verbal, there were two comprehensions. They were little bit difficult.First read questions and then comprehension. Correct use of prepositions and articles were there.I would advice u to go through verbal ability book of any MBA coaching. Quantative section was a little bit difficult. Mostly questions were from venn diagram applications, trains, distance and time, time and work,etc.

Next round was Group Discussion. Some of GD topics were as follows :
1.Impact of American elections on India
2.Single-party multiple party system
3.Media crossing limits
4.Alcohol or cigarette-which would u prefer?
5.Domestic companies and multi-national companies
6.ICL VS IPL
7.Reservation
9.Sex education
10.Education system of India
11. Impact of IT on India
12.Casteless society-possibility or myth?
13.Status of women in India

Other topics can be on inflation, economy of India and comparison it with China, and recent events. Results re announced hand to hand on ur face. There is no limit ,they can take any no. of students from a group.

Then students were divided, some had their technical first, while others had their HR first. My first interview was technical. Since my CGPA is good,he was impressed. Prepare well Project details and viva because their main emphasis is on Projects. Since I had Grade A in Financial Management and Digital Electronics, he asked some questions from these subjects. Then he asked me to wait outside. A man came and he told me that I was selected

They declare the result of first interview hand to hand, Then my interview was HR.HR asked simple questions like describe urself,ur ideal,
sth abt Accenture which is not there in website. Finally after one hour, results were announced. My name was there, I was happy.

Their process is quite fast. Just remain calm, remember, God is with u.

Hi friends, ACCENTURE visited our college on 23rd May 2008, it was my b'day. Lets not waste time.....

There were FOUR rounds in all:
1) Written test:
The written test was conducted by MERITRACK, so go through their papers. Many questions were repeated. It had THREE sections and consisted of 55 questions in all. The written test was damn easy. The 3 sections were:

SECTION 1 : VERBAL:: There were 20 questions in this section.5 questions on reading comprehension, 5 on sentence completion, 5 synonyms and 5 anatonyms...The questions were simple and no need of going through any GRE books for this section...
SECTION 2 : APTITUDE:: 20 questions. I believe R.S.Aggarwal is more than enough for this section. Questions were asked ratio and proportion, percentage, profit and loss, sequence completion, venn diagrams, and questions like:* means +, / means *, + means - and - means /;Then what's the value of 2/9*1+10-8
SECTION 3 : LOGICAL REASONING:: There were 15 questions in this section. This section also was simple, questions were blindly picked from R.S.Aggarwal. There was no negative marking.
Around 625 candidates attended the written test and 255 were short listed.

2) Group Discussion :
There were 12 members in our group. The topic given to us was:
Should Hockey still be the national game of
6 of us were short listed.
Some of the topics given to other groups were:
-GD is a waste of time.
-Usage of IT.
-Effect of cinema on youth. etc...
Totally, around 130 of us were short listed for the next round.
After this round, we were given a form to fill. Fill the form clearly, coz based on the details u fill, the questions will be posed
in the interviews. Remember, people having year gaps have very less chances to be selected. They almost selected none who had year gaps.

3) Technical Interview :
The interviewer was a very cool guy. Mainly he asked me about my project. So be thorough with your project. They may go deep into your project. Be ready with your project. They need a clear cut description about your project. Database used, type of connection used, problems faced while developing the project and connections and so on....
He didn't ask me much technical questions. Some of the questions were:
Explain Binary search, normalization, paging, swapping and a few small querries...
Right after my technical round, I was taken for the HR round, people who didn't get through technical round were told
on the spot.

4) HR interview :
The lady who took my HR interview was not so friendly. Some of the questions she asked me were:
-Tell me about yourself.
-Are you happy to be short listed to the final round? (I said of course I am, and today's my b'day and this is
the first interview of my life, so this added to my happiness. She wished me for my b'day).
-Why did you score less marks in your 12th standard?
-Asked me why wasn't I selected in the first 3 companies that visited our college. (I told that I wasn't eligible to
attend any of those three interviews).
-Do you have any year gap in your academics?
-Achievements, strengths, weakness.
-Extracurricular activities.
-Why Accenture?
-Willingness to work in any region in India. bla bla bla.........

I finished my HR round at around 4.30pm. I was asked to wait until 6pm for my results. The interviews went on until 11.30 at night.
We had to wait until 12 at night for our results. Finally the results were announced at 12. And yepp, I was one of the 75 selected students. So, totally 75 (out of 625 who attended) were selected.

Then Analytical part is there.
Ratio proportion ,time n tide, little maths tricks r there.
Then data sufficiency and reasoning .

It’s little tough round.We r 13 candidates in this round.6 students r selected.

Topic was—Impact of Global warming .
Just put your view with good communication skill and put accurate,distinct and innovative points.If u don’t know much abt the topic just listen everyone and then make a good summary and conclude it .

Written has been done 10 days b4.so that day GD started at 11.30 am and it took 20 mins. 15 mins 4 discussion.After that just in 2 mins the result had been announced.

Some went for HR and some 4 tech,my turn was tech. I was not informed that I was going 4 tech and the time was 12.30pm.

The interview took 15-20 mins. Then volunteer asked me 2 just wait. Then after waiting 4.30hrs my turn came 4 HR and that time I was convinced that I m through 2 next round..

This time I entered the room with smile and being relaxed. The HR madam was very impressive and appealing and also very friendly so she made me more comfortable.

This conversation took around 30 mins and then I was just waiting for the result. Some rumors are going the number of student selected or rejected, tension is building And after a long wait of 5hrs they invited us to a assembly hall and there just we felt like The top of the world when they announced the name. Its just like the dream came true.

Day 1
APTITUDE TEST
Something that should have begun at 8AM did so at 9:15 AM, which is surprising considering I’ve heard that the guys from Accenture are never late. I was the first batch to begin its test. A simple aptitude test started at 9:30 AM. The format was as follows:
1) VERBAL SECTION.. Basic question types were.
* Put the correct prepositions in sentences.
* Mark the answer as the world which has its meaning closes to the one italicized in the sentence.
* 2 simple IT passages which non IT people wouldn’t have a problem with either.
2) ANALYTICAL SECTION. Simple math but time consuming
3) A section to simply check your concentration..
It had questions like compare 11010110010101001 and 11010110000101001 to check if they are the same.
The paper had 55 multiple choice questions, 1 mark each and you had 1 hour to do it. They also get you to fill a basic data sheet before you begin along and staple this along with your answer sheet (an OMR sheet since the test is multiple choice) and in most cases they staple your resume to the back too.
They took in about 500 students in the first slot and the number of students who had shown up was close to 1500 (detailed info later). So they did the whole thing in 3 groups. Tests finished around 2 PM and results came out around 6:30PM
They had 30 lists having 15 students each. Each list is a group for a GD. 1500 students wanting to see these lists on one notice board is bound to cause chaos. The management didn’t quite sadly think of this. When they realised it, they put students in 3 rooms on the 3rd floor and started announcing names in lists and also displayed the list on one corner of the campus on the ground floor. It took an hour to an hour and a half but it was done. My friends saw my name on the 29th list and told me about it. I was through from the aptitude test!

GROUP DISCUSSION
The usual topics were basically current events. They were based on IPL, the Tata Nano and Sania Mirza’s decision not to play in India. Being in group 29, I had to wait till the end so the guy knew we were prepared with these. So he gave us a derivative of what a girl in my group suggested (on being asked). “Should smoking off screen be banned as well?” was my group’s topic. Here are a few things you want to know about these GDs.

1.In a group, they will select anywhere from 0-10 people. You need to make good points and be heard. Don’t make it a fish market though.
2.Follow up, be clear in what you’re saying and make sure you’re heard. Keep it short, simple and yet accurate.

An entire group got rejected because they were all shouting. Just maintain decorum . My group had 3 people selected in total.
We got a small yellow chit saying we’re invited tomorrow for the interview. It was already 9:45 PM so it had been a long day..

Day 2
They gave us a 45 minute presentation on the company; a cut short one because they were already running late. Then we were waiting for our names to be called out for our interviews. We were all sitting in a big auditorium.
There were 8 panelists. 4 for Technical and 4 for HR. All technical on one floor while all HR on another. I went for my HR first.

HR INTERVIEW
It was really good tbh. We started chatting as if we’re friends. He asked me about myself, where I was from, what my likes were and what I did in my free time. When I said I like playing football, he asked me about my favourite club and we had a brief discussion on isotopes and I answered that. He asked me for examples and I said Hydrogen, Deuterium and Tritium. He said “Carbon?” and I confidently said “Graphite” but realised 18 hours later that Graphite is a different molecular structure of carbon and not an isotope. Graphite was an impulse answer. Only retrospection made me realise how wrong I was. Didn’t matter then
He then asked me to explain how a cricket ball swings. I gave my explanation. He refined it adding a few technical terms like drag and asked me if he’s right. I said yes. He then asked me how new balls swung and I said it had something to do with the grip but I don’t know the exact reason since I’ve never played with season balls (leather covered cricket balls). The actual answer was the grip is such that the seam points towards the slips and the new prominent seam cuts the air to cause it to go towards the direction that the seam is pointed. Thanks Dad, for that answer
He said he was done with me and was wondering if I had any questions about the organisation. I did so he answered them. And then it was done. I stepped out and 15 seconds later the guy standing outside the class telling students when to go in told me that I cleared the interview. Of course I did
I was sent to a room where all the selectees were sent. A floor above us all the technical interview selectees were seated. It was time for a 30 min lunch break so the panel left and so did we. On coming back, we were sent to the 4th floor while the guys sitting in that room (the ones who had already cleared their Tech interviews) went to our room. Now the wait began for the Tech interview. Unlike all the rounds prior to this, I didn’t have to wait. My name was on the 3rd list. So I was outside the room which would decide my fate. The guy calls in the first girl and takes her interview for 30 mins. The next girl goes in and spends 25 mins.. Now its my turn. I want to drink water and I have none! So I’m at the cooler trying to get water but there is none! Just then the co-ordinator says the interviewer is ready for me.. oh shiz
I go in.. he is just about to ask me something when a cup of tea comes for him. He offers me a glass but I declined saying I’d rather have water. He gives me his bottle. I drink and say “Sir, there’s no water on the floor.. I was just trying to get some from the cooler..”. He calls in the co-ord and says “What’s going on? Students want water and there is none! Go get the guys waiting outside some water” ’twas funny
The interview started and he asked me to describe myself then asked me to tell him what subjects I had.
The trend in the technical interview was if you are from Comps/IT/Elex/ExTC you’d be asked one set of electronics questions and one set of coding questions
I was asked about microprocessors first. The definition and the block diagram. Then an explanation how the ADD operation would work.
Next I was asked the difference between C and C++. He then saw my resume and asked me about my testing experiences. Then he asked me to rate myself in my C skills (looking at the competitions I’ve won and projects I’ve worked on). I said I was a 4 on a 1-5 scale (didn’t want to go too high.. always leave scope for improvement). He said I should write an algorithm to find the largest number out of 100 numbers. I’m like.. err linear sequential search is an inefficient yet simplest method. I gave it 5s for better methods then said “Linear sequential search, though inefficient, is the simplest for the task at hand.” I wrote down the algorithm and he jotted down my evaluation. He asks me the number of iterations and I said n for n numbers then he asked me if I was sure and I changed it to n-1. He asked me again and I stuck with it. Next, I was asked about different test cases and he was taking tone as if to suggest I was wrong. For a second I though I might have fuxed the simplest algorithm in the world in haste.. but I didn’t. I showed him with a few example inputs. He followed up with more test cases and I provided all possibilities with explanations. He saw that I was confident of my answer and I knew that I was right. And then it was over!
He walked out of the room with me to the co-ordinator asking him for something. When I asked the co-ordinator where to go, the interviewer said “go straight and then right.. you’ll see some students there.. you’ll know which room to go from there.” I’m like “OK 8-)”
I go there and it turns out to be a room full of the people who got selected But I wasn’t told that I was so my friends told me to confirm with the co-ordinator and so I did. As it turned out, the interviewer sent me there just so that I don’t wait 2 minutes for my result sheet to be processed and me to be told, lol
So there you have it, I have a job at Accenture

ACCENTURE PAPER ON 5TH APRIL AT IICMR,PUNE

Hi, This is Swapnil Kanade from Dr. D. Y. Patil Institute of Management & Research, Pimpri. I was selected in Accenture on 5th April, 2008. Here are the details:
Location of Test: IICMR, Nigdi, Pune.

Selection Process:
1. Aptitude test of 55 questions having 55 marks. Date: 29th March 2008.
2. Group Discussion and HR & Technical Interviews. Date: 5th April 2008.

Candidates from MCA and Engineering Colleges around Maharashtra were invited for Campus selection.

The aptitude was conducted by MeritTrack for Accenture. It contained English section, Mathematical Aptitude and Reasoning section. A key to solving these is to download and solve previous question papers from Freshers’ world. The questions are easy. Just solve them fast as the time is just 60 minutes.
After those sixty minutes, 5 minutes are given for writing an essay. This will be evaluated in the interviews. Our topic was “Artificial Intelligence.” I finished the test in 50 minutes and utilized the remaining 10 minutes for thinking on the topic. Do not start writing essay unless you are told to do so. In fact, we were given only 3-3.5 minutes. You should write the full page for the essay.
The results of aptitude are conveyed to your TPO. Out of 36 students of our college, 11 were selected for GD’s. The overall selections at this stage were 211.
The next rounds were held at the same place one week later, on 5th April. It started at 9.20 a.m. We were given a PPT on Accenture. Listen to the PPT carefully. Remember the motto of Accenture: High Performance. Delivered.

After the PPT, we were divided into groups of 12-14 each and taken to GD halls.
My group’s topic was “Do ends justify means?” The GD conductor talks to you before the GD and explains the criteria etc. Please make sure you have great command over English and you do speak up at least a couple of times. Listening is more important and I was successful in leading the overall GD. I listened to others carefully. So guys were mostly addressing me. I also made sure that no one dominated and gave some ladies chance to put their views. This ability of handling your team is very important.
Other GD topics were “Evolution of Education System in India from 1990 onwards,” and “Globalization”.

111 candidates were selected for Interview round. From our college, 4 made it to next round.
We were then given some forms where you fill in your information, location preferences etc. Then one-by-one, we were called for interviews. I had to wait a lot as my turn came only at 3:30 p.m. The HR and Technical Interviews were conducted by two persons simultaneously in different halls. (Pipelining!) Those who would pass one kind of interview would then be sent for the other. I was first sent for HR.

HR Interview:
I first tapped the door gently and opened it, asking for the permission to come in. After getting it, I got in and walked upto the table and greeted the HR, who was a sober man in his 30’s. He looked very serious, but was in fact were kind. I sat on the chair only after being told to do so. He had my resume and copies of certificates with him which he was reading. After a while, he fired the first salvo at me by asking me to introduce myself. The questions were as follows:
1.Tell me something about yourself.
I talked about myself and my strengths and weaknesses, my objective etc. Make sure your introduction lasts no more than 1-1.5 minutes.
2.How can you prove that you are creative?
This question came as I had said that I had quoted ‘creativity’ as my strength. I gave the example of my pencil shading hobby.
3.Give me an example of your perfectionist attitude.
I said that I work on my paintings and portraits for several drafts unless I am satisfied with them.
4.Do you have any of your sketches with you now
5.I said, “Sorry, I don’t.”
6.Tell me about your family background.
I stressed on the loving bond we share in our family. Try to say something about all your family members.
7.Can you tell me a situation where your suggestion/creativity helped your team achieve some innovation
I gave example of our 3rd semester project.
8.And a situation where your team failed in achieving its objective because of your mistake?
“I am a trekker. We have a trekking club in our town. Once we had arranged a trek to one fort called Bhairavgad. It was quite difficult ascent and I was required to go first and tie rope for the others. Unfortunately I could not climb the point with steep ascent and we had to abandon the trek altogether. But the very next week, we again went there and this time we made it to the top.”
9.Who is your idol
I said, “Sachin Tendulkar. As he is a high performer and still keeps his feet firmly on ground. I wish to perform like him and still maintain my humility.”
10.But when Sachin scores a century, our team looses, right?
“It is a team effort and everyone has to contribute his best. And the team leader has to make sure they do.”
11.How did you come to know about Accenture
“From one of our seniors who was placed in Accenture a couple of years ago. I was very much impressed with the global look of Accenture that he described.”
12.What do you mean by Global look?
“It is the global presence. This gives Accenture the great mix of different cultures and I like to interact with people from diverse backgrounds. That’s one of my strengths. I will get an opportunity to explore the same at Accenture. Hence I really admire it.”
13.Which company do you admire the most other than Accenture?
“I like Infosys.”
14.Why?
“It has done very well as a Corporate Citizen. I especially was impressed with their ‘Infosys Foundation’ headed by Mrs. Sudha Murthy. I have read her books like ‘Wise and Otherwise’. The foundation has been doing a lot of social work and philanthropy in various remote parts of the country. This suits my nature of helping others in achieving their goals. Hence I admire Infosys very much.”
15.Have you appeared for any other company’s test before?
“Yes, KPIT.”

The interview lasted for 20 minutes. I wished the HR a good day and came out. After 5 minutes I was told that I cleared the HR.

Technical Interview :
The next round was Technical interview. After half an hour, my turn came. The interviewer was a lady in her mid-forties. She was very cultured, soft-spoken and refined.
She was a HR and most of the questions she asked were of HR type. It went somewhat like this:
1.You said that your idol is Sachin Tendulkar, right? Why?
“That’s because he is a high achiever and perfectionist. He can deliver high performance time to time and in spite of the reverence he gets from the world, he is so down-to-earth. I wish my success doesn’t go to my head at any stage of my life.”
2.Tell me something about your family.
This question was a repeat. I gave similar answer.
3.Why was your score so less in 12th standard?
I explained the reasons.
4.You have done B. A.?
I said, “Yes.”
5.What was your major?
“Political Science.”
6.Why did you choose Political Science?
“It is the enveloping subject for all other subjects of the world, as it creates the framework within which other subjects like economics and even science and technology evolve. It gives you the opportunity to study the diverse cultures and political setups of different countries. This enables me to understand the socio-cultural mindsets of their people. This in turn helps me in effectively interacting with them.”
7.Then why did you not go for IAS?
“In fact, I had started preparing for Civil Services Examination. I wanted to go in the Indian Foreign Service. But later I realized that I won’t get the kind of freedom and power to push forward my vision and opinions or aggressive strategies. I also had a liking for technology, so I chose MCA after B. A.”
8.Why do you love technology?
“I am a creative person. Just like canvas, brushes and color palette are tools for creativity in arts, technology is the tool for expressing your creativity. Besides, I also love working with machines.”
9.How did you develop interest in technology?
“When I first learnt C, I was very much impressed with its power of making the machines work for you, according to your wishes. That fetched
me closer to technology.”
10.You said that you want to go into Systems Programming, right?
Actually I had not said so. But still I answered affirmatively. “Yah, Systems Programming is domain that puts high demands on you for utmost creativity, supreme command over languages and thorough understanding of the architectures and other details. So, one who has a liking for details will surely succeed in that.”
11.And then what about Application Programming?
“I like Application Programming also as it involves interacting with people. You have to understand their needs and preferences. The interfaces have to be user-friendly. So, if one can understand the preferences and psychology of people, one can really develop successful applications. The study of different cultural setups helps in this stuff. Hence I can do equally well in this area also.”
12.What are your strengths?
“My ability of communication, soft skills, my creativity and my technical knowledge are some of my strengths. I can work well in teams and can lead them also.”
13.Can you write a C program for 2X3 & 3X1 matrix multiplication?
I wrote the program. She asked me to explain the logic of the program. She also asked me why the order of the matrices is important. I explained.
14.111 candidates have been short-listed from GD for interviews. What’s in you that sets you apart from others?
“My USP is my communication skills and my ability of interacting with people from diverse backgrounds. This will help me in dealing with our clients and I am particularly eager to work in Accenture as it has people from all over the globe. I am really excited at the prospect of working with the company having global look.”
15.Can you give me an example of how you can communicate across cultural backgrounds?
“Well, I have a zeal for talking to people especially from backgrounds of other than mine. For example, I have a vast network of friends, most of whom are from different states, even from different countries, speaking different languages. I can interact with them because of my observing, analyzing and empathizing skills. My cross-domain experience and knowledge helps me a lot. I am sure I will have similar success with Accenture as well.”
16.Why should I select you?
“Accenture will select me only if it thinks and is satisfied that I am the right candidate for the job. Let’s think from Accenture’s perspective. What it will look for in a candidate is the soft skills, strong domain knowledge, communication skills, ability of working in teams, leadership qualities, global viewpoint, creativity, and so on. And I think I have it all in me.”
Here I again stressed on soft skills.
17.Where do you see yourself after three years from now?
I gave a diplomatic answer to this question. I said, “I don’t know exactly how fast careers grow in Accenture, but generally speaking I see myself as at least a System Analyst. Not three years as such, but say, five years.”
18.Any other company you appeared for before? What was the result?
“I had appeared in KPIT aptitude test on the very next day after the aptitude of Accenture. But I could not clear the test.”

The interview lasted for 25 minutes. The last question she asked was “You want to ask me anything?” I was a bit surprised at the timing of the question. I just said, “Well, nothing as such!” Then she thanked me. I wished her a good day and left the room. After a while, the person outside the door told me that I was selected and tried to shake hand with me. But I couldn’t because my friend literally hugged and lifted me up in excitement. I was then busy receiving calls from all my college-mates and friends. Success is really very sweet. And when it comes in the form of placement, you suddenly feel a kind of relief from all your worries and tensions!

From almost 2000 candidates, 211 cracked the aptitude test. 111 candidates cleared the GD round. And finally who made it to Accenture were just 33, a majority of whom were girls. There was a sad edge to my success- I was the only student from all candidates of our D. Y. Patil Pratishthan to get selected in Accenture. I will really miss my friends. I take this opportunity to thank them for their support.

Tips for successful placement:
First, please work well on your soft skills. Merely having fluency is not enough; you should have the ability of conveying your thoughts across clearly. You must have well manners and etiquettes.

Second, do a SWOT analysis of yourself and stress on your strengths in all answers. Remember, questions pop up from your previous answers. Hence, it is in your hands how to direct the interview flow.

Next, gather information about the company from various sources. Try to find out what the company wants. Also work on your GK as some of my colleagues were asked questions on it.
It is a popular myth about Accenture that it only seeks fluency in English. It also wants its employees to give a high performance. Hence having technical knowledge is also very important.
Believe in yourself. Be polite, but firm. Don’t get disturbed if you are cross checked. Keep your ears open for any clues.
Develop some novel ways of answering. For example, the way I answered the question “why I should select you?”
Just be relaxed and calm, poise. Have a great self-confidence.
